What to do now अहिले के गर्ने

1. Wash the wound at once with soap and plenty of running water for 15 minutes. This alone removes much of the virus.घाउलाई तुरुन्तै साबुन र धेरै बगिरहेको पानीले १५ मिनेटसम्म धुनुहोस्। यसैले धेरै भाइरस हटाउँछ।
2. If you have it, put an antiseptic (povidone-iodine or alcohol) on the wound.भए घाउमा एन्टिसेप्टिक (पोभिडोन-आयोडिन वा अल्कोहल) लगाउनुहोस्।
3. Go to a hospital or health post the same day for anti-rabies vaccine. Don’t wait to see if the dog gets sick. Government hospitals in Nepal give the vaccine (in Kathmandu, for example, Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital at Teku). Ask at your nearest one.रेबिजविरुद्धको खोप लगाउन सोही दिन अस्पताल वा स्वास्थ्य चौकी जानुहोस्। कुकुर बिरामी हुन्छ कि भनेर नपर्खनुहोस्। नेपालका सरकारी अस्पतालमा खोप लगाइन्छ (जस्तै काठमाडौंमा टेकुको शुक्रराज ट्रपिकल तथा सरुवा रोग अस्पताल)। आफ्नो नजिकको अस्पतालमा सोध्नुहोस्।
4. Finish every dose the doctor gives you, on the dates they give you.डाक्टरले दिएका सबै खोप तोकिएका मितिमा पूरा गर्नुहोस्।

What not to do के नगर्ने

1. Don’t put chilli, turmeric, oil, lime, mud or other home remedies on the wound.घाउमा खुर्सानी, बेसार, तेल, चुना, माटो वा अरू घरेलु उपचार नलगाउनुहोस्।
2. Don’t hit, chase or kill the dog. It may be healthy, and harming it helps nobody.कुकुरलाई नपिट्नुहोस्, नलखेट्नुहोस्, नमार्नुहोस्। ऊ स्वस्थ हुन सक्छ, र उसलाई हानि गर्दा कसैलाई फाइदा हुँदैन।
3. Don’t skip the vaccine because the wound looks small. Rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms start, and the vaccine prevents it.घाउ सानो देखियो भनेर खोप नछुटाउनुहोस्। लक्षण देखिएपछि रेबिज प्रायः ज्यानमारा हुन्छ, तर खोपले यसलाई रोक्छ।

If it’s safe, note where the dog is. A vet or animal welfare group can check on it: find one near you in Find help. If the dog looks sick or hurt, report it in the Kukur app so volunteers can see it.

Preventing bites टोकाइ रोक्ने उपाय

1. Vaccinate pet dogs against rabies every year.पालेका कुकुरलाई हरेक वर्ष रेबिजविरुद्धको खोप लगाउनुहोस्।
2. Leave dogs alone while they eat, sleep or look after puppies; don’t run from a dog, walk away calmly.खाँदै, सुतिरहेको वा छाउरा हेरिरहेको कुकुरलाई नछेड्नुहोस्; कुकुर देखेर नदगुर्नुहोस्, शान्तसँग टाढा जानुहोस्।
3. Teach children not to touch dogs they don’t know, and to tell an adult about any bite or scratch.बालबालिकालाई नचिनेका कुकुर नछुन र टोकेको वा कोतरेको कुरा ठूलालाई भन्न सिकाउनुहोस्।
